From the expanse of space to the microscopic view of structures.

The primary influence on my work is the natural world, from the expanse of space to the microscopic view of structures.  I am not interested in reproducing what I see. Instead I am seeking a way to go beyond the world  of nature and into the place between what we can see and what we cannot.

My interest, at either end of this spectrum of this reality, continues to feed my imagination.

Symbolic explanation

“Man's ultimate concern must be expressed symbolically, because symbolic  language alone is able to express the ultimate. This statement demands explanation in several respects. In spite of the manifold research about the meaning and function of symbols which is going on in contemporary philosophy, every writer who uses the term "symbol" must explain his understanding of it.” Paul Tillich Excerpted from Dynamics of Faith (New York: Harper & Row, 1957)

Panspermia: seeding the earth.

Panspermia is a hypothesis proposing that microscopic life forms that can survive the effects of space, such as extremophiles, become trapped in debris that is ejected into space after collisions between planets and small Solar System bodies that harbor life. Some organisms may travel dormant for an extended amount of time before colliding randomly with other planets or intermingling with protoplanetary disks. If met with ideal conditions on a new planet's surfaces, the organisms become active and the process of evolution begins. Panspermia is not meant to address how life began, just the method that may cause its distribution in the Universe. Wikipedia.

Aboriginal art and symbols.

Aboriginal art is art made by indigenous Australian people. It includes work made in many different ways including painting on leaves, wood carving, rock carving, sculpting, ceremonial clothing and sand painting. ... Aboriginal art is a language in itself, communicating through beautiful patterns.

I have always been fascinated by aboriginal art and symbols.   My symbols like aboriginal symbols are my way to record  events and  significant information about  man and society.  Aboriginal people used symbols to indicate a sacred site, the location of a waterhole and the means to get there, a place where animals inhabit and as a way to illustrate Dreamtime stories.  To understand and appreciate my  symbology or iconography, imagine how you would indicate, record and recall essential information or place names or events in a non material world.

Digital world (00037)

Cell phones and meaningless conversation

floating among the masses with no salvation.

Endless memes and fevered obtuse speech

waves of psychotic mumblings in the breech.

My muse and life partner Anita 1940-2020

I take you
From this day forward,
To love and to miss,
For better or for worse,
For emptiness or joyful memory,
In sadness and in grief,
Even after death has made us part.
I take you as my wife
In death as I did in life,
Because our love is forever.
